1. About Lord Ganesha
Lord Ganesha is one of the most widely worshipped deities in Hindu traditions. He is known by names such as Ganesha, Ganapati, Vinayaka, Vighneshwara, Gajanana, Ekadanta and Lambodara.
In Puranic traditions, Ganesha is described as the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Many Hindu traditions begin auspicious activities with prayers to Ganesha.
His elephant head, large ears and single tusk are traditionally associated with wisdom, attentive listening, discrimination and focused awareness.
2. History & Puranic Tradition of Lord Ganesha
Several Puranic traditions describe the birth and divine stories of Lord Ganesha.
According to a well-known traditional account, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from her divine power and instructed him to guard her entrance. When Lord Shiva encountered Ganesha, a confrontation took place. The story says that Ganesha's original head was severed and Shiva later restored his life with an elephant's head.
This is why Ganesha is widely known as Gajanana, the elephant-faced Lord.
Ganesha is traditionally worshipped as a symbol of wisdom, intelligence, auspicious beginnings and removal of obstacles.

According to the traditional Sthalapurana, three brothers were digging a well when they encountered a hard object. As they dug further, blood is said to have emerged from the well. The traditional story says that the three brothers experienced a miraculous recovery from their physical disabilities.
Villagers gathered at the site and discovered a Ganesha idol. They attempted to find the base of the idol but were unable to reach its bottom. The idol continues to be worshipped at the well. (Chittoor District)
5. Why is it called Kanipakam?
According to a traditional explanation published by India's Ministry of Tourism, devotees offered coconuts after the discovery of the deity, and the coconut water flowed into the surrounding agricultural land.
